Korea Blind Union

Korea Blind Union(KBU) introduced “Audio description (AD)” for the first time in Korea in 2000. Audio description started from television programs, and gradually extended to movie, musical, picture books, artworks, and visiting cultural heritage sites. KBU is continually developing various materials to apply AD. Through this effort, KBU, as the only specialized organization in Korea, is now providing 4,000 AD per year to 5 public and several cable TV channels. Also, KBU produces more than 30 movies with AD and closed caption per year and provides an opportunity to the blind and hearing-impaired community to watch movies at 30 theatres or more, all over the country.
